My girlfriend and I were talking last night about this weblog, and the style in which I write it. We came to the conclusion that the way I write isn't really the most satisfactory, about how I write for a kind of vague "other" who is more an acquaintance than a dear friend, a disinterested passer-by who needs to be entertained with bite-size quips and anecdotes. It's not really me.
So where should I go from here? I really can't see the warts-and-all confessional being appropriate in this case. I like the thought of being entertaining, at least sparingly! We discussed the idea of writing as if to a best friend, but one of the main reasons best friends are best friends is because you *can* tell them things that others would be bored, shocked or embarrassed by.
Ideas please. You're the people who read it, after all.
Posted by biondino at January 02, 2003 04:45 PMHmm. I quite like the way that you write, I enjoy the comments that you make - the fast food social observations of life. However, it does tell very little about you as a person. But then, do you really want to write "dear diary" style weblogs? Perhaps you just need longer entries. Then, you'll have to write more and it will be less of a summary of your thoughts.
No idea mate, no idea.
Ahh, how about - the "best friend" style, with all details not for public consumption in a new code that you would seperately work out for each entry? Then one could try and fail to solve it(unless excessively stalkerish), yet feel utterly intrigued and keep checking back for more? Or something. Y'know. Whatever.

As for the question at hand - I don't know. You DO need to be entertaining I think, even if addressing a best friend. Maybe you could put in outrageously personal details, but MAKE THEM UP...
