I'm back to listening to mostly pop and dance music and hip-hop again. Or did I ever stop? Recent purchases: S Club, Tatu, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang (and much related), Mandy Moore (Oh baby it's real) and such. I'm kinda wanting the J.Lo album, as I've been craving that song with LL lately. The hook is so cute and perfect...I fucking like her, shit. Waiting For Tonight is one of my favorite singles of the last however many years. I'm loving the mixes from Muzik lately, even if they look better on paper than they sound...I had a whole stack of them at work (from like the last three years) and discovered the Space Cowboy's cover of "I Would Die 4 U" (been buying Prince lately, too) which is absolutely perfect...I love that it's all dirty. That seems to be all I care about. A nice, filthy, hard lo-fi beat. And when it drops from the four-to-the-floor to the hip-hopish/electro beat...perfect. Seriously, perfect. And the breakdown. What the fuck, how can people dismiss it? Motherfuckers. Also, the Ida version of "Jubilee". And Carolyn Hester's and Warn Defever's, for that matter. Although not so much lately, no beat!
So yeah, amongst the buying I finally bought Wu-Tang Forever. Two discs of goodness, but honestly I could give a fuck less. Because it's all about "It's Yourz." The songs been on my mind for years (Since it was a single? One of my high school friends had it on a tape he always played in the car. Damn, it makes me wanna go drive around and get stoned.) but I only now bothered to seek it out...I had no idea what it was called so I had to just track down samples of songs on AMG 'til I found it. And am I ever happy I did. I fuckin' listen the shit out of that song. Every day, over and over. Fuck all that "expanding your horizons" shit, I want to listen to it over and over until I die. It would be even better without the synth-strings...Just that fucked up disco beat and all those gravelly verses. Yum.
There are a bunch of Saint Etienne 12" singles at the record store right now, but they're like $5 each and I have no money...regardless, I bought the Teenbeat 100 7", the first season of the Simpsons and an Emil Beaulieu. I dunno shit about Emil but I keep hearing him referred to as the American god of noise. And supposedly he's funny. Or something. I skimmed it and it totally doesn't seem my style (digital or death! whoo!), but..whatever.
Also: Eve Online. Flying spaceships around and fucking mining. How retarded. But blowing things up! And other people! And totally fucking them over 'cause it takes time to build up yr character! Classic! Best part: being able to play windowed and work on other shit while playing at the same time. Videogame and real satisfaction at the same time!!
As of this moment I'm stuck in the "It's Yourz" loop again.
This is why I'm late to work everyday. I get hooked on a ultra-catchy song and listen to it until two or three AM. It makes me happy, though.
I quit the stupid fuckig message board I've been wasting all my time on, too.
