Microflats my arse
Am I the only one who thinks Microflats are kind of ridiculous? I'm totally into the concept of compact living... for years, I read the Japanese magazine Cutie obsessively, mostly for its views of teensy Tokyo apartments with their insane decorations. And right now, the bf and I live in an apartment that can't be much more than 400 square feet. But the Microflat is just crap! It looks to me like a good 30 square feet are wasted on a "hallway" that runs alongside the bedroom and the kitchen. If this design were actually about saving space (and not about a gimmick), there are unquestionably better ways it could have been envisioned.
Plus, I'm disturbed because chances are within five years these Microflats will be occupied by poor families instead of dot commers, and we'll be introduced to yet another aspect of the cycle of tenements, tower blocks and urban life.

Have you seen our apartments which we launched to the public at The Ideal Home show in March......your comments arte spot on and this is why we took such a long time researching this market and trying to come up with a decent answer.
The Microflat in Sel;fridges window in nothing to do with us and the name they pinched from our Ist prototypes back in the 80's when we were experimenting.
