"It...didn't seem believable to me..."
The more I think about it, the more I realize that I absolutely LOVED this movie. I had some reservations about some parts of it coming out of the theater--the plot seemed so nebulous and diffuse in comparison to Rushmore, and it lacked that pure, romantic central character--but overall, the atmosphere and pure CINEMA on display here is irresistable. Colors (that PINK!), clothing, typography, tiny background details (a huge collection of National Geographics; the insane thrift store "technology"). So visual, so fantastic. A beautiful paean to a lost New York that SHOULD exist, damnit.
