Work and Non-Work

I wonder what it's like to get laid off.
I've never gotten fired from a job. But then again, I have worked at the same place for what basically amounts to my entire adult life. I started working at this club when I was 19. I'm about to turn 25.

I don't feel like I'm going to get fired. I mean, I actively make loads of money for the place. And while we haven't been doing so well since The Thing (as the lovely Rhett Miller puts it), i don't think we're running the risk of going bankrupt.

But boy, it would be nice to spend a few weeks waking up late, hanging out at the cafés in my neighborhood, playing with my cats, making dinner for the bf... Maybe I should be a house husband.

I have this nagging voice in my head... telling me to Get The Fuck Out Of New York. To move to Vancouver or Edinburgh or San Francisco. Maybe I already posted about this, I can't remember. In any event, I'm thinking about it again. Someplace where you don't have to work so much just to get by... OK, scratch San Fran from the list, then.

I don't think I'll ever do it though. Bah.
