Oh, righty. The golden streams thing.
I forgot all about the new mp3. Belle & Sebastian + Langley Schools Music Project (timpani! wood blocks!) + a healthy dose of queer politics and raunch = The Hidden Cameras. Sure the band name is kinda generic, but their URL is to die for. As is their singer/mastermind. Third from the left.

Oh, and the song is about pee. Enjoy it.
Hey, I'm feeling generous and unconcerned about trivial concerns like bandwidth. Have another track from the album, too. This one's called "Ban Marriage" and I *think* he says 'there is splendour in the harshness of bum' at one point but I'm not 100% sure. Performance art these characters are good at; enunciation they are not.

Good song. Those harps really say "golden showers", don't you think?

Oh my god. I have just realised that I used to know Joel. He was a regular at all the brit pop clubs. I once told him off for writing glowing reviews about crap like These Animal Men in his old fanzine just because the record company gave him promos. Who'd have thought!

These Animal Men ..... god, that takes me back! You know, I can't remember a single one of their songs. I do remember they had a thing about The Naked Civil Servant though, so that's a point in their favour at least.

If you look on the band's website, one of their photos shows a band member holding up a big placard with "there is SPLENDOUR in the HARSHNESS of BUM" on it. So you're probably right about the lyric.

Many thanks for the mp3. The HCs are my new favourite band. And considering I've officially gone off new music, that's some feat.
The "Ban Marriage" single /EP has just been released in the UK, and I'm telling anyone who'll listen to buy it. Likewise the album when that emerges, and which you already appear to own. You lucky beast!
