Ooh. Shiny.

Blah blah blah, new stuff from Apple cakes.

I haven't been able to get the QuickTime update; I keep getting errors on Apple's website and it's not in my software update, but the other new things are fab. Love the new font tweaks in iTunes; not sure about the new icons yet. New iPod update is nice, too, although it didn't seem to give me solitaire or most of the new features (where's song queueing? and note files? Are they on the new models only? Bummer). Hmm.

Ooh, shiny, and ooh, inaccessable to 95% of the world. Gah!

Last time I looked, the Windows version outsold the Mac version 60/40. Plus, the USB 2.0 version will be out in June. Which, not uncoincidentally, is when the entirely new 64-bit Macs will be introduced (with 64-bit MOSX 10.3).

Ordered mine today, the fat one; because size does matter.

B- what typeface changes?

The font in "small" list view is a point size smaller. Or maybe they just changed the anti-aliasing a little. I'm having trouble putting my finger on it, but the big expanses of song listings look Better to me. I suppose it could be a carbon -> cocoa thing.

One thing I *am* sure of though: there had been a bug in the OS X version of iTunes for as long as it has existed: sometimes the Search field font would revert to Helvetica for short periods. It drove me absolutely batty although it was hard to notice except with certain glyphs (G and a, in particular). It's fixed now.

And hey, the icon is less aqua-y. Obviously Steve Jobs listens to what I say.

I hate the new look of iTunes. I already miss the old, more rounded, aqua-like buttons. I hadn't had the font problem, but the problem I have with the search field is still there: it's greyed out when iTunes is in the background. Other apps don't do this.

And then there's the new volume slider. I wonder why Apple decided to stop using the standard aqua slider, the one that is part of the OS, and available in Interface Builder, for that ugly thing.

Ok, enough bitching
