OS X VNC? WTF.
[Skip this one if you're not a Mac dork] Does anyone out there know how to get a VNC between two OS X machines to work??
I have been happily Timbuktuing into my work Mac from home for years now but we don't have enough Activation Keys for the OS X compatible version so I can't use it any more. Unless I shell out a hundred bucks myself which I don't plan on doing.
I've tried running OSXvnc and Share My Desktop as servers and VNC Thing, VNCDimension and Chicken of the VNC (ugh) as clients. None of them will pass the Command key through to the server! None of them! How am I supposed to get anything done with no Command key? They all also exhibit various impossible-to-work-around bugs like arrow keys "sticking" and refusing to stop moving the cursor. I can't get any work done like this. WTF am I doing wrong?
Bleh.
Update: Well, it looks like I'm not alone. Apparently there is some issue with the VNC system sending everything as if I'm holding down the Option key at all times. No solutions yet, though.

ARD! or, argh? You know, the ARD client responder is built into all clients in 10.3, though that's NDA info so keep it under your hat. It's also likely to be a huge exploit.

VNC is very possible from pretty much anything (mac, windows, *nix) to anything (same list)
for os x you need a server and a client.
the best imho os x vnc server can be downloaded from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/osxvnc/OSXvnc1.32.dmg?download
and for the client, check http://www.versiontracker.com - you can find pretty much anything you need in the os x universe from there... freeware and shareware galore...
btw, i'm an applecare technician

While I agree that in theory it's possible, it appears that no one on the internet seems to know how to send the Option key modifier to a Mac VNC server from a non-Mac client. (Most of the requests come from Windows users.) This is an obvious incompatibility.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Personally, I'm playing with PalmVNC 2.0, with which I can send Windows keystrokes that equate to Ctrl and Command but not Option.
