Pinnacles of Western Civilization
I think I remember reading an interview with Stephin Merritt once where he mentioned that he considered a certain ABBA song the pinnacle of western civilization. Probably "Dancing Queen." Anyway, Paul Morley's gone and written a book about how Kylie's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is (According to Popjustice) "the absolute pivot of everything in the universe." I had better pick that one up, then.

Paul Morley is, with all due respect for his ZTT activities, a right twat; even so, this book sounds like a winner. (There was a wonderful review in The Guardian by Steven Poole which, alas, seems not to be available online.) And "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is surely one of the defining moments of modern Western culture. Na na na, na na na-na na...
I have to get to a bookshop right now :)
