Dear QuickTime,

It's 2005; we've had OS X, uber-long filenames & separate user accounts on our Macs for a good four years now.

So, honey, it's time to LET GO of the 31 character filenames & the insistence on saving movies at the root, OK? Get with the now, you look like DeBarge!

(By the way, the movie I was watching was the trailer for some game called Alan Wake. Looks pretty, but the weird tense shift in the text rubs me the wrong way. At least the font's not bad; lately I've been playing a GameCube game made by a company that uses Arial for its logo and all its game text. It makes me die a little every time. But, erm, I digress. As usual.)

Love,
Brian

Which Gamecube game? Just curious.

Eternal Darkness, by Silicon Knights. Their website doesn't use *any* of the same branding as the game does although happily it's inadvertently hilarious in an "our web designer lives in 1997" kind of way.

Oh yeah, I remember that game. It was pretty decent, but I don't recall the font - Julie and I played it a couple of years ago now.

Silicon Knights are a decent shop - they're currently attempting to resuscitate Lara Croft. I had beers with their lead programmer earlier this year - they seem like they've got their heads screwed on okay :)

Actually, I got that completely wrong, and it only just occurred to me. It's Crystal Dynamics, not Silicon Knights that are looking after Lara these days. Sorry!
