I can't wait to get my hands on this book--the artwork (from a few different folks, it looks like) is stellar, and the story feels like it's on a human scale, even as it revels in costumey superhero stuff.

Girls Aloud, Kylie (awbless), Rachel Stevens, Lisa Scott-Lee (awdoubleblessenjoyworkingattescos) etc etc. No comment on the Calvin S Club thing. Cough.

Whoa, it was Kevin who drew the mustache on the picture of Wendy "Seamstress of Evil" Pepper's kid! And he totally lied on national(ish) television about it. I vote to impeach.

Info-Mac is dead, long live Info-Mac. I'm pretty sure an Info-Mac site was the first thing I ever telnetted (and, later, FTPed) into. RIP.

"It's not an especially interesting album, it doesn't challenge the senses or break new ground, and it's not far different from what people have come to expect from Ivy"; yet it's in his Top 10, and might end up in mine, too.

Susanna Clarke addresses a bunch of questions about Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, including the whole "who the hell is the narrator, anyway?" thing. Also: Clarke has a blog?

In which the Japanese one-up everyone else yet again. I find myself needing this, even if I have never thought about the length of my pencil point even once.

So, do Sarah Nixey's chilly vocals work outside of the context of Luke Haines' bitter & cutting songs? On the strength of her song in the PopJustice podcast this week, I'm not convinced.
-
I really love that Killers remix, too--it's remarkably successful as a near complete reimagining of the song, and the New Order rip of a bassline that kicks in around 6:40 (yes, 6:40, and I haven't lost interest!) is awesome.

Sugababes 33% less ugly as Mutya quits! Looks like someone is going to be replacing her... my money's on Michelle McmAnus.
-
Damn you, casting spoilers! Still, I'm pleased with what I saw before I had to clamp my eyes shut.
-
Excellent round up. Ignore the comments section, though.
-
Well, that was fast. Amelle Berrabah does seem to fit the Sugababes' criteria: suitably bizarre facial features, indeterminate ethnicity, unpronounceable name, etc etc.

I love how it says "Support Kristin a.k.a. 'LC'." Oopsie!

Oh yes, that most elusive beast! I probably wrote to PopJustice twenty times asking for a feed, and it turns out it was just hiding. It's excerpts, but I guess beggars can't be choosers, right?

Funny, it's prickly, extraordinarily white, and sort of burnt around the edges. What a coincidence!

People who know me since I started driving last year will also know that I'm obsessed with the pull-through. I adore this ask.mefi thread for introducing me to fancyparking.com, the best website evar.

File this under "handy things to keep on file"... I hate how OS X "intelligently" tries to format things into HTML for me when I don't want it to, and how "Paste & Match Style" in iChat is b0rked. I usu deal with this via a BBEdit doc but the comment tips

If Apple puts those shitty little Intel badges on their computers, there will be MASS IMMOLATION in Cupertino. I'm pretty sure by the end of the day Steve Jobs would be beheaded. I'm just sayin'.

Another Project Runway blog. The jury's still out as to whether it's good since all I did was look at the pictures so far. Work is tiring, OK? I'm not used to the concept of, like, working at work.

"Turns out the cool kids aren't watching "The O.C." or "Gilmore Girls" anymore. They're watching "Veronica Mars"...Actually, the cool kids watch all three and never leave their apartments in the evening. Yup.

In which Virginia H calls Kristin "an Eve Harrington for our time." and opines that "against the odds, "Laguna Beach" has something of the visual momentum of great Italian film." How did I miss this article before??

Seriously, del.icio.us
Since people keep emailing me and asking when I'm going to write something again, I'd like to reiterate that I post in my del.icio.us account many, many times a day. I'm generally too lazy to go to the trouble of writing and editing anything longer than a sentence or two so it's perfect for me.
Matty set up his RSS feed so it combines his blog postings, flickr photos & del.icio.us linkposts into one magical feedburner thingy but I'm also too lazy to do that--just subscribe separately pls. kthnx.
Oh, and while I'm on the subject of feeds: I'm busy cleaning out my NetNewsWire subscriptions today because of all the people who have moved/altered their feeds but not made mention of it in the old feed. Don't you get that if you do that, no one who reads your feed will know that you changed your site? I've had to manually update about 20 sites so far, which so far amount to a good 600 missed entries since the last time I did this in September. Sigh. Either make your last entry in your old feed a link to the new one or use the correct HTTP redirect codes on your server--it takes three minutes.
