“This isn’t science fiction, really,” Mr. Meirelles insisted. “It’s a metaphor.”

It's cute, then it's a little scary, then it's funny, then it's COMPLETELY AMAZING. Also I like to pretend that the kid edited and sequenced the whole thing, like she's part Skynet or something.

Hmm, anything about giant wasps and a handsome devil who travels in a blue police box?

I'm not gonna lie, I enjoy a good Bernanke joke now and again. I sorta miss commuting, I don't get my alone time with Marketplace on NPR anymore.

I've listened to this about 70 times since yesterday afternoon. The hook alone is worth a million bucks (and a soul or five), but in classic Xenomania style they also threw in multiple breaks, an unexpected key change (WUT!), AND a proper ending (at a part in the chorus that goes "starting to fade...starting to fade..." lulz). I also love that they did a 60s nod right at the time everybody said "60s nods are dunzo".
The bassline and drums (not to mention the little guitar bits during the Kimba break) remind me a lot of St. Etienne's Good Humor album, curiously enough. I could talk about this all day. Maybe I will.
This has officially ruined last Friday AND today for me. Bleh. I need to break my habit of PDFing stuff in phpMyAdmin or I'm going to lose my mind.

Dorie, you have let me down. These blondies, while unquestionably the most delicious I have ever made, were a total mess--sunken, crumbly, uneven, and strangely stratified. Now I'll have to eat them all myself, grumble grumble.

1. Watching this at work has turned out to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay inappropriate. 2. Why do the vampires have pointy incisors instead of cuspids? It's weird. 3. Excellent, something new for Jacob to, uh, sink his teeth into. Shit. Can't believe I wrote that.

Hours of work on a papercraft version of Howl's Moving Castle, condensed into a few minutes (and a few dozen nerdy ringer tees).

This is pretty much the best comment thread in the history of ONTD.

Everyone I know tumbled or delicioused or voxed or whatevered this article yesterday, and NOBODY noted that it said GLENN CLOSE was in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA.

This is the finest cooking instruction segment I've ever seen--Danielle Forestier is so exacting and her motions & explanation are so assured. At first I just thought she was a prime biatch, but it's really just that she's working at an incredibly high level of expertise. Forgive the dated website & lousy RM/WMV video--this has been repeated on PBS a bunch lately so just tivo it.

This is a little embarrassing, but I really want that weekender bag he has. Can somebody shoot me an email and tell me who makes it?

Sometimes I think I like reading about The Wire more than actually watching it.

I can't watch Madchen Amick in anything without being scared that crazy evil Leo from Twin peaks is going to suddenly appear and start beating on people. Yes, that includes Gilmore Girls. Also, how Barefoot Contessa was this episode? I even saw that windmill she loves.

I like that they matched their tights to their microphones; pop could use a little Garanimalization. Also, is it just me, or is anyone else surprised that Rocky and Frankie are totally the Nicolas of the Saturdays when they used to be the Nadines of S Club Juniors?

Matthew knew what he was talking about when he picked the redhead with the stupid hat as his favorite slayerette.
