I dunno, I just found this interesting.

"I've never seen L.A. look more beautiful in a work of art. There are no movies that are as beautiful as that." I agree 100%--the cinematograph style created by Laguna Beach and perfected in The Hills is stunning. I was so let down when I watched NYC Prep the other day; it looked so flat and lifeless.

Look, I love "Giving You Up" and "Made of Glass" and, well, the vast majority of Xenomania's output. But would they really be the producers to turn to when your goal is "a really coherent album"? Their stock in trade is more or less nonsense. I'm kind of longing for a Kylie album with a decent lyric or two, is that wrong?

In the break, are they singing "we are the L-E, the K-I-D, we are the drunk-unk uncle in your family"?? Because if so, that's the best nonsense couplet Cooper/Higgins never wrote, and it makes up for this being a complete and utter rip of "Can't Speak French." Also, the lads in the 'band' are fit and they have a girl 'drummer', which covers a multitude of sins. I await further tuneage.

Cute enough to give you a cavity.

Argh, I totally noticed that and it made me LOSE IT. I don't think I've ever seen ANY other instance of the word "limn" in the Times outside of a Kakutani piece.

The GIF of ZQ dancing with Kristen Bell (and Masi Oka! I see you there!) is my favorite thing of the day.

'"Nurse Jackie," the pilot in particular, is constructed out of a lot of second-hand parts...But my opinion is that it's not the song, but how you sing it, and Edie Falco makes some beautiful damn music as Jackie. Yes, they lay on the Jackie-as-vigilante-nurse thing a bit thick here...[b]ut pilots often have to color in broad strokes to make an impression, then get more into nuance as they go forward.' Eh, I'll believe it when I see it. I think this character might have made for a good recurring arc on House although I understand Falco's argument about the need for more female-fronted TV projects.

This is out of print on DVD, but it just turned up on Netflix's streaming service. Everyone I know either loved or ABHORRED this movie--I'm firmly in the "loved" camp. Gonna watch it again right now, in fact.

This is basically Torchwood without any boys kissing each other.

That reminds me, I REALLY need to make a "Rock Me Ama" Date-Quince Pie.

"How's your thyroid" and "Can we eat a banana now?" = highlights.

Wow, who pooped in A.O. Scott's coffee? "Does it sound as if I hate this movie? Don’t be silly. But don’t be fooled. This movie does not like you."
-
"Little Boots is scared stiff about releasing her debut. But she lives up to all the hype, says Alexis Petridis" Four stars! Way to go, Boots!

Well lookee lookee, I've got me a new favorite blog; Justin Wolfe is Jacob Clifton but with no editor and all the filters shattered. (I thought what I wanted in a blog was Jacob Clifton with MORE filters and MORE editing but it turned out I was wrong)

If only the writing on Terminator had been this engaging, amirite?
