dance dance dance dance dance to the radio

oh man, tonight kicked all kinds of ass. first it was pho minh with rae and kimmy, then beers with kathryn added to the group, then on to 80s night sans kathryn, sadly. i had to suck down a gin&tonic before i got onto the dance floor, but once i did, there was no stopping me. except to pour some ice water down my shirt or rub ice cubes on my neck. because daammmnn it was hot. kimmy was like, is that water or sweat? and i was like, both! this medication makes me overheat and sweat more than usual. and in this heat, seriously, as soon as i dry off from my shower i'm soaked again. it sucks. and it's killing my skin. i used to have the kind of skin people fawned over. now i'm embarrassed to leave the house without layers of makeup. but well, it's either that or be a crazy psycho. so you know, you choose the lesser of two evils.

but anyway, yes, dancing dancing dancing. we danced for hours. bonus moments were the cure, new order, pat benetar, the smiths... i was just about to give up when they finally played the smiths around 1am. then we really had to go because we were going to die from heat and exhaustion. kimmy and i both took ice cold showers and now i finally feel like my body temperature is something resembling normal. my whole body aches, but in a good way.

today i was sort of productive and went to have keys made and bought a 2-3 prong adapter so i can plug my computer in in my room. i also made yet another temp agency appointment. but! tonight we saw that a bakery in our 'hood is hiring, so i'm totally going there tomorrow to apply.

i finished watching closer today, and everyone kept saying how devastating it was, but to me it just seemed really true. people really do treat each other like shit sometimes. i think i liked the movie overall. but i did watch it in two sittings, so it's kind of disjointed in my head.

must sleeeeeeep.... i keep hearing what sounds like big bugs bumping into the ceiling or walls, but i look around and see nothing. but it wakes me up all night. because i am terrified of bugs. i want to be like, show yrselves or shut the hell up!

good night.

xo.

Aw, I hear you about sweat being the bane of your skin's existence. When I lived out west where the heat was so dry my skin was PERFECTION. And my hair! It was like sea parting, being raised from the dead miraculous!

But sounthern summers and medications ruin it all! Clean and Clear makes these very handy face wipes that makes it all more tolerable. I don't have time to wash my face as often as I want to but those handy little wipes allow me to degrease more often which makes me slightly more hideous.

yes i'm going to have to start carrying something around with me. the problem is that my self-consciousness leads me to wearing makeup, which i don't want to wipe off... but then again, it just melts off anyway. i should just suck it up and go out bare-faced. i mean, it's not that bad. it could be worse.

if i ever hear you use the word hideous to refer to yrself i will clobber you! you are a gorgeous melungian (sp??) goddess.

Have you ever tried any of the clean and clear makeup? Not that they have an extensive line or anything but I know they have a couple of coverup items. So it's like foundation that helps your skin because it's not really makeup. I have the stuff that keeps your skin from appearing shiny and it works relatively well for not actually being makeup. Then, I don't have any of the guilt of clogging up my pores. Unfortunately, I have to be careful because if I use too much I end up looking a bit like a smurf.

Also, I bet New York would be a lot more comfortable if one could reasonably wear the outfit that your weather pixie has on now.

actually i've been using the neutrogena "makeup" which is really just a salicylic acid cream that's tinted. but the tingle (like noxzema, you know?) lasts a long time, and it is initially nice but ends up kind of bothersome. i will check out the c&c stuff. almay has a foundation that also has s.a. but i haven't found a shade that doesn't make me look mask-like!

we totally saw a girl walking around south side pittsburgh in her bikini top and a skirt yesterday. i mean, it's hot, but it's pittsburgh! not california! put a tank top on! it just looked silly.
