An embarrassment to the good name of "Zoe"

Oh my god, Zoe Williams does it again in her essay on bottoms. Wow, that was just so so bad. Where to begin?

Can I haul out the Super Bad V.C. Andrews article? Andrews is a better writer Williams. DEAD Andrews is better than Wiliams.

And if we're going to talk about stupid things in the Guardian and Observer, may I mention this Nigella Lawson column?

I know no women, although they may exist, who find the notion of male homosexual activity erotically exciting

Um, okay, whatever, you really need to get a wider social circle or something. Everything I've read seems to indicate that there's quite a siginificant population of woman who watch/read gay porn, not to mention the average young lady who likes to watch two cute actors smooch in movies. Sure she covers her ass with the 'although they may exist' line but really, she doesn't know ANYONE who likes it? I mean wasn't the point of, say f'rinstance, Velvet Goldmine to watch cute well-endowed boys make out? And, oh god, than there's the academy's favorite (well, besides riot grrl and dance music and 'cyberspace') SLASH.

But back to the topic at hand. Really, the only good thing I can think of about Ms. Williams is "well, at least she doesn't spell her name with a Y"

also, only 11%??? That seems so low. I swear I've read 30%. But maybe I get all my sex survey info from Cosmo and Redbook, so the sample's a bit biased.

i discovered your blog typing "zoe williams" and "crap" into google - i'm so glad to find someone else who doesn't like her - well, i guess there's thousands out there who know she can't write but they're playing dumb. did you read her awful article on irony last month? i swear i could see the stitches. And those side-splitting 'things you only know if you're not at work' pieces she churns out every week? i was indifferent at first but no longer - her writing makes me hurt.
