So I found an old copy of My Name is Asher Lev which was one the books I had to read in 10th grade (I think it was what the class was working on when I transferred into it, and oooo just think about that reminds me that the Monroe-Woodbury High School English Department (ca 1991) CAN SUCK MY FAT DICK ooo I'm still bitter!) and boy, is it the suck. I had totally forgotten anything about the book except the guy's Hasidic and artist and that's bad and scandalous blah blah blah. Why didn't someone slap Asher, he was so freaking annoying? Was he developmentally challenged? Or just thick? And ARRGH The "Mythic Ancestor", boy I think my teacher made waaaaay too much a big deal out that.
Also the phrase "My name is Asher Lev" is the literary equivalent of "What's the matter with Helen?" isn't it? (For the slow readers in the class, that's when a main character says the title of the the work that they're in.)
Next up: rosemary tells you how stupid "The Scarlet Ibis" is, and just what kind of name is Doodle??? My god, I have no affinity for American literature.
Researching knitting resources online, I have discovered that there is a pattern for a knitted uterus. NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I'm not sure I like it, so there's hope for my project yet.
I will write more on this later, but the Nutrition Action newsletter is the biggest pile of fun hating ever. They reviewed doughnuts, oh no they are bad for you! They compared one to having the nutritional value of white bread smeared with lard and jelly, which, sure ok, but it doesn't taste like that. Doughnuts taste GOOD. Food tastes GOOD.
So Marianne Faithfull is being played on the radio singing "Pirate Jenny", making that transformation into a contemporary Lotte Lenya oh so complete. So so unsuprising. Did I mention my theory about Lenya = Carol Channing??? I mean, creepily voiced ladies playing the same part for 30+ years and being only known for that, and maybe one other role ("Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend"/Rosa Kleb).

Oh, my poor little liver, I think it's still pickled. And, ow, the rest of me is sore. I think that is the quickest I have gone from meeting to hookup (no, no, there were a few boys where I said only "hi" and then snogged them). You know I really think P. Leroy is going to turn out to be Indie Fuckwit Mark II, although a much nicer person, I will admit. Still! Why I am I admitting all this in public? Oh well at least the Sex Recession is over and I don't have to sleep with girls or gay boys or anything.
And now I can never go to the Pavonia branch of the JC library! Well, good thing I'm moving.
Oooooo, sooooo cold. But I finally finished the stripey stocking cap. I finished the knitting months ago, as it was a quick knit. But the finishing! Yuck! I am only doing hats on circular needles from now on! It's pink and purple (surprise, surprise) and so soft. I have leg warmers that match... but legwarmers that are too wide. I wore them on thanksgiving and they fell down constantly. I would like to make another, this time, maybe knee high? Black and white I think.
My alien scarf is an hour away from being finished! And the Skully Sweater is going along nicely.
So, at home I shall have aacces to a) a scanner and b) cats, uh oh!
Next week, I think, I am going to get my projects photographed. And I have more now! The last time I brought a bunch of stuff in, they ended up being photographed for a newspaper article; it comes out soon. I am half worried, half excited that the bikini top pic is gonna be in the Star Ledger

Also: last week: ew! Like I need to hear SVU lawyers discuss "t3@b@gg1ng". Seriously between this and the close ups of vomiting on ER, I think an NBC show is gonna be the first one to break the money shot barrier. I mean, what's left??? Besides someone yelling "cocksucking motherfucker!!!" (thanks maura!)
(And by that, I mean someone appearing on a Law and Order franchise, not someone watching, because we all know too well how common THAT is yelled at the screen, eh?)
