guess who found glad I'm Not a Kennedy on vinyl? whoo! and a Falco record.
My yarn trip was a big dud. I guess I have to to AC Moore again, oh well.
(Haim Topol = Topol, right?)
update:
This morning there was a two hour special playing the music of Naomi Shemer. I left at 8.30, so I didn't hear what, if any, rendition of her most famous tune. Well, it was nice to hear female singers early in the morning on WFMU. That sure don't happen often on weekdays.
PS: yes, sazzerz, I know Topol is Chaim Topol but, does Haim = Chaim?
Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed with random hunches? I get these and I am always so very very right about them, and I hate it. You just all of a sudden realized "Oh my god, they are totally doing it" even before said couple has hooked up. But they do.
I had a thought like that this week, but I think I coud be wrong.
Also, I am good at deciphering everyone else's romantic entanglements, why can't I understand. Before, during, and after they happen, I am still confused as to whether the boys involved were interested or not. I always vote not.
I had this horrible thought/realization concerning the 2nd Sassiest Boy in America.
My assistant manager is 42 and has a grandchild! I am feeling so behind on the child rearing curve.
My knitting testing is not going hot, OH NO now I am going to have to use math to convert guages, etc.
I know this is old news to about half of my five readers, but still.
whoops! It's been a while. I keep writing everything on myspace instead, oh dear.
I didn't pass the driving exam. I have another one at the end of July. This time it's in the same town as the DMV, I sure hope I don't get the EVIL driving lady. And why does my driving instructor keep asking about my "boyfriend"??
I found out my mother went to bowling alleys TO DRINK when she was in high scool. And then let drunk boys drive her home. Well! I waited until my mid twenties for that, and I drank in PROPER BARS.
oh no! interesting scheme falling through!
but: other things turning out ok.
i am reading faye kellerman mystery a day, it seems. some of it icks me out. the most cringeworthy moment was when a character used "google" as a verb. the sex freaks me out, too. i think i just like to read depictions of bad sex. i think SLIDALINY is possibly rubbing off, as i having been making people laugh unintentionally.
my new job is ok. much less money and hours but ugg it is worth it, i think
The original recording of Evita sounds similar to JC Superstar. There's some musical creepiness going on. Plus a little bit of guitar and "rock" that I think gets lost in the American version. And Che wails a lot like Judas did. (which fits into the Che:Judas::Evita:Jesus::Peron::Mary M structure) I'm just trying to decide what are the best songs of the Law and Order project. I am going to have to bring notes!
Also Godspell better than Jesus Christ Superstar?? What? Not that I've heard Godspell, but Ethan Mordden description of it includes the phrase "stupid hippies" so it's not exactly loking good, is it?
Did anyone watch MSNBC this morning? A reported told a D-Day veteran he was "82 years young" and said vet replied "Up your ass." Ha! Later he said "oh shit" after overhearing the questions woman at the studio wanted asked. Go old people! Not like MSNBC and thier anchors don't need to be told '"up yr ass" more often. Is the FCC gonna fine MSNBC? Oh wait, it's a cable channel. And so far they're not subject to the same rules as regular network. SO FAR, ugh ugh ugh.
I went to Normanday in 1998. There were lots of signs saying to not walk off the marked paths because of land mines.
Ha ha score! Well, possibly... In other words, I think affirmative action of a sorts is going to open the first door in the tokyo rosemary media takeover.
I bought This is Pop and it's an odd experience to realise that after ten years of running to and purchasing books from the music and scholar review book sections of the Strand, you now know the writers of these essays. EEK. I think I could write a decent enough review of some of the essays. In all hoenstly, while I like the topics, I don't find them breaking tremendously new ground either. I need to think about the piece on collecting. Especially since I do collect non collectible records - well, I like Montavani and his peers. And oh! where is is the Original Cast Recording? For all the teen girl pop fetishization, well drama club teen girls luv the showtunes, you know.
Although I quite can't believe that my possible radio debut will involve showtunes. Well, I can believe it NOW but not five years ago or even two.
