Lately I have been feeling SCHADENFREUDE. I need to get working on the get a real job plan to make it better, I think.
Also, confusing signs in other areas.
Today I am listening to Jesus Christ Superstar, I think it's a movie musicals of ALW/TR week here in TR HQ. Ha ha, maybe I want to see the Phantom movie! ALW and JS are going to be on my new favorite tv show Theater Talk. When oh when will Ethan Mordden be on to plug his new book?
I think half my menstruating life is done, I'll never have babies at this rate!!!
So I rented Evita (well it was that or Xanadu. Or Jesus Chrust Superstar. WHich reminds me: I need to start a in praise of Robert Stigwood thread) and it was ok, but it's the little changes that bug me. Some of the notees are different, and I hate that! And the rhythms, too (mainly lines spoken instead of sung, ugh) Antonio Banderas wasn't that bad, but really we all know who my favorite Che is. The score had the guitarryness of the original version. Although here's something, if this is a rock opera in some sense (opera in that it is sung all the way, rock in that it is influenced by it, and oh!! I did read a good explanation of the vocal requirements) uh, I am lost, ok, so you get a rock star singing, and I don't think she's up to it! Maybe because she is pop rather than rock? Her voice just is too breathy and weak when she gets into upper registers. In the end Madonna sang all my favorite parts WRONG (certain bits in Rainbow High and Buenos Aires mainly. And the way Eva Beware of the City Blends into Buenos Aires and they go and break it up with the train scene! And the delivery of 'screw the middle classes, etc' is not so good.
I'd still buy it for $10 or what have you.
I need the Elaine Paige version. Ha ha time for a trip to Footlights!
bah, this Dover Say It in Yiddish book I found in my collection is useless. I need the word for pretty! I can guess what it might be thanks to my German. I finally figured out koyfn (sp?) which, well makes sense. I can understand colors and numbers. I wonder if I should have told that annoying lady "oy! What tsuris you are causing!"
should I quote prices in Yiddish? I think when I finnaly get real job, and have nothing to lose, I think I shall!
I am doing okay at understanding the Spanish speaking customers, too.
So I'm watching a thing on Ruth Handler and Barbie, and swet jesus, can we retire the Barbie leads to bad body image in girls meme? I'm sorry but If you were comparing your self to a plastic 11 inch doll that in no way resembles an actual naked woman, you're an idiot. Even if you are six! But even at six I had seen naked women and knew that they looked TOTALLY DIFFERENT from a naked Barbie. Her feet were total abstractions of feet! (Which is why I liked Jem. She had big feet, so shoes stayed on better, and her butt looked like one as did her breasts.)(I think I feel the similarly to the oh no! fashion magazine leads to anorexic teenagers! argument too. So how come every woman who reads magazines don't have eating disorders?)
Barbie contributing to excessive consumption on the other hand....
I just ate two chocolate graham crackers topped with whipped cream. This was after three slices of chocolate cake and a bag of microwave kettle corn. BLURGH. Communists, please come soon, so I can stop this binging madness!
Am I the only person who thinks walking around cities listening to an iPod/walkman/whatever is a BAD idea? Was I the only one taught not to in the how to avoid muggings advice? Not being aware of you surroundings = not good, surely.
Also, I gots to read some Sheila Kitzinger, argh, why are all my peers C-section happy??
hey fact fans, when did New York State make abortion legal? I seem to remember it happened before most of the rest of the country (i.e. before 73) and I was wondering if the "the lady from Amityville Horror II couldn't have had an abortion it was 1972!" line in last weekends CI was sloppy fact checking
(oh my vinatge Our Bodies Oursleves says it was legalised in 1970!! But then that law was repealed in 1972 but WAIT the repeal was vetoed. So yes it was possible to get a legal abortion in NYS in in 1972. Now the big question is : write a crankly letter to Law and Order or what?)
Oh dear, it has been a while hasn't it? Well I've been on a sugar binge lately whoops. Today was worse as it wasn't just empty sugar calories, oh no, this time there was sugary AND fatty chocolates, drats. I am hoping my post menstrual waight loss and attempts at walking before work will counteract this. Last time I dieted, I managed to not give in during Valentines AND Easter. What happened to willpower? Then again the weeks I have been losing have been one's when I have had a day or two of LOTS of eating, so maybe there is something to this eat more to boost your metabolism. I suppose I need more vegetables. Blurgh.
Oh shit, I forgot I ate half a Hostess Snowball today.
Well one of my hundreds of dream jobs is back being advertised on the company website, so I really must work on applying for it this week. And UGH update the resume. The job is all about CUSTOMER SERVICE but, well now I have a few months FRESH experience, plus things that sound so much more impressive . Haha I can write 'in my job as SUPERVISOR' which sounds so much nicer doesn't it. I am no longer a SALES ASSOCIATE, I am a supervisor and keyholder!
That said, I have to realte the tales of the new sales associates, yikes! This county really is quite trashy at times.
I also have a fantastic project in the works! And it requires RESEARCH, yikes. Well, that's tomorrow then.
(Attn sally: prepare for a glut of mail soon)
