yay! the pop episode of soundtrack of the century! screw you, earnest hippie music!!!!! and i didn't have to work late, so i didnt have to miss this!

i had a cute ickle baby try to grab my glasses today. and inadvertantly touched her dad's fingers (who was holding her and a sugar bowl at the same time) oops sorry, but at least i'm not unclean like the last two times whoops!!

it's going to have to be all abba at work tomorrow, hooray!!

oh no punk, oh no,

wait, is this show implying abba wrote feel good love songs? i thought it was pratcially a cliche at this point that the wrote super depressing ones! stupid bbc.

is this the final straw?

oh no! we are not alowed to listen to the radio anymore at work! i mean, on the one hand no more delilah thank god, but on the other, OH NO instruemental version sof wanted: dead or alive five times a day OH NO.

i am making copies of all my sort of easy/lounge cds, haha half of them were the 6 ultra lounge cds that never made it from the mail box to the radio station, instead making a permanent rest stop in my dorm room (but would a campus of jam band fans really appreciate martin denny?? i think not!)(fun fact: when i picked up the doctor in the squate he wanted to play me april stevens which when i heard it, recognized it, why? because it was on one of my, uh, 'borrowed' cds, haha!)

i am going to have to make some cds for closing when the boss isn't around, oh wait that's ALL OF 10 days next month. hello ultra chicks and dreambabes!

MY GOD I can not believe I actually heard the argument that Sheryl Crow is prefereable to Shania Twain because SC writes her own songs. I was dumb and didn't say WHHHHHATTTT????? I need to be more devil's advocatey in that musical setting, I think.

Then I went and bought a Claudine Longet compilation and felt all better and everything.

Also, shall we say amusing, was having high school kids tell me how to pack premium packages, I have only been doing this 3 years, jeez. But anyway.

I wore matching lipstick and nail polish today. Maybe I'll try it out at work. I'm full of surprises, me.

my BRANE!!!!!

omg hasidim on svu: if there's a shout out to m0nr03, my mind will explode, YOU WIN LAW AND ORDER, OK????? (ok, so there wasn't, but ONE DAY ONE DAY)

ha ha and munch all up on rules of shabbos

anyway did anyone see that article in the times? it was all 'yeah yeah yeah, nyc in '77, what about new york 1990?' which is the year law and order debuted. the spectre of the 80s on early l&o is a thesis waiting to happen.

i was also thinkig if they ever need another franchise they should have retro law and order!!! investigating crimes ripped (off) from old headlines! but then stuff like sydney biddle barrows, andrew crispo, and joel steinberg are TOTALLY retro, and uh, hello season one.

oh and speaking of, i am fairly certain it was the actress who played not at all hedda nussbaum was the psychic who told charlotte york she was never getting married. and , hey sally, jesus/ c-square was on it too. and, there is the BIG DUH in the L&O/SATC crossover and may i just say big's mom being marian seldes = totally fantastic!!!! (hee hee and she was on a logan episode, too)

but seriously, one day i will write my broadway/l&o/satc theory of the universe meta epic!!!

okay this means the abba episode is next week, yes?? yay!!

So I am watching the PBS series on the music of the century (I think the BBC called it Walk on By) and it's the countrified/folkified rock episode BLUUURGHHHH.

How many time can these old men keep saying 'natural'?? C'mon, songs are better song by people who didn't write them! Ew jam bands. Ew hippies. Ew beards.

But: how, in my championing artifice over nature, did I become total hippie home birth lady???? Technology and man made meddling in music YES!!! In birth NOOOOO. (Although, that lotus birth thing, whoa, no thanks.)

But really the sounds and aesthetics of this musical genre = hi, I am clawing my eyes out! With old spoons.

I have to go listen to a Night at Studio 54 to purge and cleanse myself now. And put on lots of make up!

(Oh no!!! Lean on Me! Oh, how I hate you, song.)

guest star round up!

so last night while watching l&o, i saw a drug ad! with mandy patinkin! che, wha' haaaaappened? you got kids in college or something?

i wonder when my l&o shirt ( i spent $32 on a t shirt! i guess i am a little crazy) will turn up.

from dover you can get paper dolls of the following:

angela lansbury
elaine stritch
patti lupone
rita moreno

what other guest stars are there avaialble in paper doll form? i want to know!

there's a law and order regular in the new production of sweet charity. i am fairly certain that that original actor in the role was on l&o, too. GUH. i guess if i find the new soundtrack for cheap sometime, i should get it, for my "in the criminal justice system: these are their songs" collection. i finally came across assasins, but i want my sondheim on vinyl

gwen verdon, why did you have to appear on homicide???

i also like the julius + hk stuff, too, obviously

(Delia's USED to have it???)

no title

I need to hear Charo and the Salsoul Orchestra do "Let's Spend the Night Together", how could it not be awesome? Why would people want to burn this??

There was a little too much quoting from the same books (Love is the Message and Last Night a DJ Saved My Life)(which of course I have)(and I feel like every time I say I like something musical people acted surprised which is so condescending and gross)

And it's DDC special day coming up! 25 years! My my!

I bought that new(ish) Paul Morley, it's so listcentric, ick. I couldn't even read Nothing. Carol>>>>>>>>>>>>>Paul when it comes to coming to terms with having a dead dad. Which is why I don't like to mention it, 'cause you know you'll get all similar responses to the ones made in the movie.
